THE TOWN OF ST. PAUL, VA

 


St. Paul is located in the county of Wise, VA at the county line of Russell County.  The town of St. Paul has a population of 887 (2017).  St. Paul was historically a logging and coal related town.  Starting in 1999 the town has been going through a revitalization effort with the assistance of several grants.  The town now has a completely remodeled hotel and restaurant in the historic district with several other restaurants and small businesses opening.


Since the town borders the Clinch River there are lots of opportunities for rafting, tubing, kayaking and fishing.  There are several trails for hiking, biking and ATV trails.  Within a short drive there is a wilderness area and a National Forest.

Just 40 minutes from St. Paul is the historic town of Abingdon, VA, home to the renowned Barter Theater. Just an hour drive from St. Paul is Bristol VA/TN-- home to a new Pinnacle shopping center with Bass Pro Shop, Belk, Dick’s Sporting Goods and numerous other retail establishments.  At the Pinnacle are several restaurants and centers for children and youth activities.  Also within an hour drive is city of Kingsport, TN.
